The best way to clean your Instant Pot

There are so many households that have instant pots. It’s such a great invention that many love. Not only is it an amazing gift but it saves so much time when cooking. If you have an instant pot and you want to know what is the best way to clean it then keep reading. I will share the cleaning method that I use and I find the most effective.

Of course, your instant pot should be cleaned after every use with hot water and dishwashing liquid. But at least once a month you need to deep clean it and that is exactly what I will show you.

How to deep clean your instant pot?

Of course, the first thing you should check is whether it is unplugged – safety first.

Continue with removing the inner cooking chamber and wipe it with a damp cloth or sponge. Any food and crumbs need to be completely removed because sometimes they can interfere with sealing the lid.

If you notice any stains you can make a paste with baking soda and water. Dip a sponge in the paste and scrub the stained area. Using baking soda is such an inexpensive yet powerful cleaning method when dealing with stains. When you are done wipe everything with a damp cloth. Feel free to repeat this step however many times needed until the base is perfectly clean.

Then we will move over to the lid components. Wash the silicone sealing ring with hot water and soap. Then continue with washing the anti-block shield.

The next thing you should remove and clean is the steam release valve. Make sure you check whether there are any food particles that are stuck and remove them as well.

Continue with the inner stainless steel pot and racks

Scrub them with the baking soda and water paste.

You can also pour a cup of white vinegar straight into the pot and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then grab a sponge and scrub the sides of the pot with vinegar. Then rinse it.

How to take care of bad odors?

It’s quite common for the silicone seal to absorb odors. You can pour vinegar and lemon juice into the inner pot, put the lid on the instant pot, and turn the steam release valve. Set the appliance for three minutes. Once the cycle is complete let the mixture sit in there for a couple of more minutes then open the lid and allow it to air-dry.
