How to Properly Clean Diamonds?

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, right? But only when they are clean! If you do have diamond jewelry – rings, earrings, bracelets, etc. then you know that everyday wear can cause them to look dull. For example, due to hair products, lotion, soap, dirt, and all sorts of other impurities.

But, of course, today I am going to show you how to properly clean them so they look incredible at all times!

How to Properly Clean Diamonds?

Get the diamond jewelry you will be cleaning, place a bath towel on your kitchen counter, and get three different bowls. You will need ammonia, a liquid soap, a small toothbrush, tweezers, rubber gloves, and a microfiber cloth.

In the first bowl – pour a cup of water, then heat it up in the microwave for a minute or so. Then add 1/3 a cup of ammonia. Place the jewelry in the bowl and let it soak there for 30 minutes.

In the second bowl, pour a cup of hot water and a tablespoon of the liquid soap. Once the 30 minutes are up, take the jewelry from the first bowl and place it in the second bowl so it can soak there for a few minutes.

Then get the toothbrush and gently start to scrub the jewelry.

The third bowl will be filled only with water and we will use it for rinsing. The water should be hot. Once you are done scrubbing the jewelry with the toothbrush, rinse it in the third bowl so you get rid of all the soap.

When you are done, take a closer look at your diamond jewelry to see if you are happy with the results. If you are, proceed with the next step – and if you aren’t, repeat the cleaning with the soapy water.

Next, it’s time to dry the jewelry. Place a microfiber cloth and lay the jewelry on top. Wait for it to dry and you are done!
