It doesn’t matter if you want to polish your silverware or your silver jewellery – you can apply all of the following hacks and achieve amazing results!
This might sound very weird but you can place aluminium foil in a pan, fill it with water and a tablespoon of baking soda then boil the water. Then drop the tarnished silver item in the pan for 10 seconds (no longer than that!) and remove it.
In case the build-up persists you can also create a paste with baking soda and water then spread it all over the silver item, rinse and dry!
If you don’t really like the first hack then you can use this one:
Place aluminium foil in a bowl then fill it with hot water. Add a tablespoon of powdered laundry detergent and soak your silver item for a minute or so. Then take it out and rinse it with water.
You have probably heard that ketchup is great to use on tarnished silver – well, it’s true! Rub ketchup on your silver item then let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it!
Another create yet effective method you can apply is by squeezing toothpaste on a cloth then rubbing it in the silver item. Then, of course, rinse well!
Number five on my list has to be using lemon juice – it’s a great way to make your silver sparkle. Soak it overnight in a mixture of 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 cup of water, and half a cup of instant dry milk (I know, it sounds very weird but it works).
The next morning you will have polished silver!
Yes, you can also use window cleaner! Spray it on a toothbrush and gently scrub your silver item.
